Nebraska Delts Celebrate M*A*S*H 2025

It is M*A*S*H week in Nebraska and the Beta Tau Delts have quite a week planned to support our military. The Chapter is planning three separate philanthropy events dedicated to raising funds for Omaha Fisher House. M*A*S*H 2025 serves as the 45th annual observance of M*A*S*H!

On Tuesday (4/29), Nebraska Delts will hold “Delt Dog Days” from 3-6pm at the Beta Tau Shelter, 715 N. 16th Street in Lincoln. Hot Dogs will be served while participants enjoy spending time with therapy dogs to improve mental health.

On Wednesday (4/30), Nebraksa Delts will launch “Soda for Soldiers” from 3-5pm at the Beta Tau Shelter. Enjoy a dirty soda or two from our dirty soda bar to benefit our great cause.

On Thursday (5/1), Nebraska Delts will hold its annual “Dunk-a-Delt” dunk tank! The event will take place in front of the Beta Tau Shelter from 3-6pm. Get a chance to dunk your favorite Nebraska Delt!

Proceeds benefit Omaha Fisher House, which provides fully furnished suites at the Omaha VA Medical Center at no cost for use by U.S. military veterans and active duty personnel receiving treatment at the facility.

Can’t make it to an event? You can still donate to the Omaha Fisher House by clicking the donate button below. We’d ask that in the “Who motivates you to support Fisher House” question on the donation form, please select “Other” and reference “Delta Tau Delta”.

Please help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 for this worthy cause that supports our deserving veterans and provides a home away from home while they receive treatment at the VA Hospital.

The Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity believes Strengthening Community is Essential to Our Vitality. Our value requires that we participate in making a stronger community that can thrive and benefit all. Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity was founded in 1858 in Bethany, West Virginia. The Beta Tau Chapter at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was chartered in 1894 maintaining an unbroken presence on campus for over 130 years!

Nebraska Delt Paul Engler Remembered

Nebraska Delts are saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Engler (Beta Tau, 1951) to the Chapter Eternal on May 3, 2024. He was 94 years of age. He is remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, innovation in the cattle industry, and his overwhelming generosity to young entrepreneurs.

A son of Stuart, Nebraska, Paul Frederick Engler’s love for cattle created the entrepreneurial spirit that guided him throughout life and provided for his famous expression, “Fire in the Belly”. He bought his first herd of cattle at the age of 12. From there, by understanding risk and how to manage it, Engler created the most successful cattle operation in the world.

Brother Engler attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was initiated in the Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity on March 26, 1947. Brother Engler was one of the first Delts to live in the current Shelter at 715 N. 16th Street. He graduated from the University in 1951. He was married to Virginia Engler, who passed away in 1996.

Paul and Virginia Engler

Engler moved to Texas in 1975 and founded Cactus Feeders which became the largest cattle feeding company in the world.

Brother Engler has given back to his communities by committing millions of dollars to the University of Nebraska, West Texas A&M University, and the Paul F. and Virginia J. Engler Foundation. The influence of his spirit will continue to benefit students for generations.

In 2010, the Paul F. and Virginia J. Engler Foundation made a $20 million gift to the University of Nebraska to establish the Paul F. Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program that helps alumni develop businesses. It is estimated that $200 million in revenue has been created from this program.

In 2017, Engler agreed to donate no less than $1 million per year for no fewer than 80 years to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. In 2022, Engler was awarded an Honorary Ph.D in Business Administration and Agriculture from West Texas A&M University.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on May 8th at the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo, Texas. Brother Engler’s obituary can be found here.

130 Years of Beta Tau Celebration!

The Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity turns 130 years old in April 2024! What a tremendous accomplishment to be the longest consecutive running fraternity chapter in existence at the University of Nebraska!

To celebrate 130 Years of Beta Tau, the Chapter will be holding an alumni event at the Shelter before the Red-White Spring Football Game on April 27, 2024. The celebration starts at 9am where coffee and breakfast treats will be provided to guests.

WHEN: April 27, 2024 at 9am

WHERE: Beta Tau Shelter, 715 N. 16th Street, Lincoln, NE

Take a tour of the Shelter and review Chapter history on display in the living room such as images of all of the past Beta Tau Delta Shelters, Delts who were star football players for Nebraska, and the various State Governors. Old UNL yearbooks will be available to view as well.

Let’s make the 130 Years of Beta Tau Celebration a momentous occasion where generations of Beta Tau Delts can visit and experience brotherhood again.

If you haven’t already, contribute to the 130 Years of Beta Tau Campaign so we can renovate and modernize the Shelter to attract today’s college student! Your support of Delta Tau Delta is appreciated.
