Brian and Carey Hamilton Presented With the Ron and Carol Cope Cornerstone of Excellence Award
Beta Tau Alumnus, Brian Hamilton “1972” and his wife, Carey, were presented with the Ron and Carol Cope Cornerstone of Excellence Award today at the Spring Commencement festivities at the University of Nebraska-Kearney (“UNK”). UNK’s highest honor, presented annually, recognizes the contributions made by individuals for their support of the Kearney community, UNK, state of Nebraska, and higher education.
If you’re graduating today, I guarantee they’ve touched your academic lives, your personal lives, and your student involvement through their personal generosity and their financial commitments to UNK and the university system as a whole.”
UNK Chancellor, Doug Kristensen
The Hamiltons are currently executive committee members and UNK co-chairs of the Only in Nebraska Campaign, which seeks to raise $3 billion to support the University of Nebraska. Brian previously served on the NU Foundation Board of Directors and Carey is a current board member. The Hamiltons were also committee members of a previous campaign which raised more than $1.8 billion for the Nebraska University system, which included $57.7 million for UNK.
What’s so great about the Foundation side of things is the scholarship money that allows students to come to college. When you see what a difference it makes for these students, and what it’s going to do for them down the road, that’s just amazing.
-Brian Hamilton
Brian and Carey have established endowed scholarships for UNK students, support the Loper Pantry, Theta Kappa Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, UNK Chancellor’s Fund, and UNK Athletics. The Hamiltons also support education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Bellevue University.
The Hamiltons are Nebraska natives, meeting while attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where Brian was initiated into the Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta in 1969. They were married in 1971 and currently reside in Omaha. Together they own and operate Midway Auto Group in Kearney and Beardmore Chevrolet Suburu in Bellevue.
Brian’s 50 year Delt career continues as he serves on the board of directors of the Beta Tau House Corporation and generously gives of his time, talent, and treasure to making Beta Tau and the Shelter looks its best.
Congratulations Brian and Carey for the well-deserved award! Your shining example of generosity is clearly shown in all of the students impacted by your gifts and provides Delta Tau Delta with a great example of excellence.
