Tom Wolf Passes to the Delt Chapter Eternal
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Wolf “1967” to the Delt Chapter Eternal on July 15, 2023. This year Tom was celebrating his 60th year as a member of Delta Tau Delta, having been initiated into the Beta Tau Chapter at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1963.
Personal Background
Born in 1944, Tom spent his youth in Grand Island and North Bend, Nebraska. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1962. From there, Tom attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he joined his father, Arden “1932”, uncle Emil “1939”, and brother, John “1964” as a member of the Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He graduated in 1967 earning a B.S. in Business Administration. Tom earned a M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.
Wolf spent over 60 years in the banking industry, serving as CEO of Platte Valley Bank in North Bend, Nebraska from 1974 until 2016. He served as the Chairman of the Board until his passing. Tom was an active leader in his community serving on various boards and organizations.
Delta Tau Delta
Brother Wolf was a long-time volunteer of Delta Tau Delta. He served on the House Corporation Board since the 1990s and was responsible for the financial success of a capital campaign for the Shelter in 2012. Tom’s leadership and business acumen allowed the House Corporation Board and the Beta Tau Chapter to weather the financial storm caused by Covid-19.
Tom was recognized by the Beta Tau Chapter as its Alumnus of the Year in 2017. That same year, the House Corporation Board voted unanimously to name the award after Tom. Wolf was recognized by the International Fraternity with the Nichols Bridge Builder Award in 2023. This award recognized Tom’s years of volunteer service as a House Corporation Officer.
Delts use the term “Chapter Eternal” to symbolize the everlasting contribution by members of Delta Tau Delta who are no longer with us. We are grateful for the memories shared, the improvements made, and the Brotherly Love that has been manifested through Tom.
Tom is survived by his wife of nearly 51 years, Deanna. His brother John and sister Anne. Children Tom, Katy, and Alex, and 7 grandchildren as well as various nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 21 from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, July 22 at 10:30am. Both are to be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 811 Locust Street, North Bend, Nebraska.
