Academic Expectations
At Delta Tau Delta, we prioritize academic achievement. Our priority is found in the first stanza of the Delt Creed:
I believe in Delta Tau Delta for the education of youth and the inspiration of maturity so that I may better learn and live the truth.
Delt Creed
We have developed a superior academic expectation of our members to help them strive for their best.
In order to maintain their active membership, a member must retain a cumulative GPA and a previous semester GPA of 2.75 or higher. Failure to achieve this standard results in a member being placed on academic probation. Academic probation restricts the member from participating in certain recreational activities of the chapter (brotherhood events, social events, intramurals) unless certain benchmarks are reached according to the member’s academic support plan that is developed by the Director of Academic Affairs. A member is released from academic probation when his GPA is above our standard expectation.
A member whose GPA falls below what is required for active membership listed above for two consecutive semesters is automatically suspended from membership. A suspended member is not permitted to participate in any programming or activities until such time as his GPA reaches above our standard expectation.
Any member whose semester GPA falls below 2.0 shall be brought up for suspension.
Members whose GPA falls below what is required for active membership for three consecutive semesters shall be brought up for expulsion from membership.
In addition to this academic standard for members, we also expect more from our chapter officers. In order to be eligible to run for office and continue in office, a member must maintain a cumulative and previous semester GPA of 3.0 or greater. Failure to attain this standard requires removal from office.
