Beta Tau Chapter Structure
The Beta Tau Chapter is governed by its members. The Beta Tau Chapter Structure is composed of elected undergraduate officers and adult volunteers that support the chapter. Chapter officers are elected annually that administer and execute the programs, activities, and operations of the chapter. These officers comprise the Executive Board. The Chapter Officers and their responsibilities are as follows:
Beta Tau Chapter Structure
- Chapter President-The Chapter President is the chief executive officer of the chapter, chairman of the Executive Board, and is responsible for the creation and implementation of the chapter’s Strategic Plan. He regularly communicates directly with University officials and the International Fraternity’s Central Office. He is chairman of all chapter meetings.
- Vice President-The Vice President is chairman of the Administrative Board. The Administrative Board is comprised of many committee chairmen who are tasked to execute or administer certain external programs or events such as community service and social. The Vice President becomes Chapter President if the Chapter President is no longer able to proceed.
- Director of Finances-The Director of Finances is chairman of the Finance Board and is responsible for developing and implementing the chapter’s budget, collecting rent and dues, and paying chapter expenses.
- Director of Member Development-The Director of Member Development is tasked with planning and implementing the chapter’s member development program. This program provides members with skills training, cultural knowledge, and career development to guide them to a life of excellence. The Member Development Director is also chairman of the Member Development Board which is composed of committee chairmen tasked with executing and administering the chapter’s internal events and programs such as brotherhood events.
- Director of Academic Affairs-The Director of Academic Affairs is responsible for creating and administering the chapter’s academic program. Some of his responsibilities include developing academic support programs for members who have fallen below our academic expectation standards, rewarding members with superior academic achievements, and communicating academic resources available on campus.
- Director of Ritual Education-The Director of Ritual Education is tasked with creating the chapter’s Ritual education program. This program explores the fraternity’s ceremonies in more depth and relates our values to everyday life. He is also responsible for organizing practice sessions for the performance of our ceremonies.
- Director of New Member Education-The Director of New Member Education is responsible for implementing the Fraternity’s new member program which provides new members with information concerning the fraternity and university, the first review of our fraternity values and mission, and peer mentoring.
- Director of Standards-The Director of Standards is chairman of the Honor Board which is the chapter’s discipline and judicial body. When a member does not abide by our expectations on conduct, academics, or other attributes, the member goes before the Honor Board to determine a resolution.
- Director of Communications-The Director of Communications takes minutes at all chapter and board meetings, administers the chapter’s social media presence, and coordinates gifts and recognition to sororities, university officials, fraternity members, and other fraternities and students.
- Director of New Member Education-The Director of New Member Education is responsible for implementing the fraternity’s 6-week new member education program, developing the peer mentor program, and facilitating weekly new member meetings and activities.
- Director of Risk Education-The Director of Risk Education reviews all chapter-sponsored events to determine their safety and to limit as much risk and liability as possible. This director is also responsible for educating members on the Fraternity’s “Member Responsibility Guidelines”, our behavioral expectations and policies, and coordinates and schedules additional educational programming on risk issues such as hazing prevention, bystander training, and sexual assault prevention.
- Director of Shelter Management-The Director of Shelter Management is tasked with coordinating our cleaning program, dining service, and repair of the Shelter. He works with our alumni Housing Corporation to determine renovation plans and conducts room checks to determine damage to the Shelter.
Adult and Professional Support
The Beta Tau Chapter also has the benefit of support from adults who are tasked to advise and educate our officers and members.
House Mother
As University Approved Housing, we have a house parent who resides in the Shelter year round with the undergraduate members. Connie Wilson is the current House Mother and has been in that role since 2017. Her prior career was as a flight attendant and has many wonderful stories about her time in the air. Connie provides that motherly presence for our members. She attends our nightly dinners and Parent and Alumni events. Connie is a good resource if you want to know how your son is enjoying college.
Chapter Advisor
Ryan Caldwell is an alumnus from our University of Nebraska-Kearney chapter and has been our chapter advisor since 2005. He is responsible for advising chapter officers on fraternity programming and policies, facilitates chapter and Executive Board retreats, facilitates goal setting, conducts a variety of member development education, and provides advanced Fraternity history and Ritual education for the chapter. Professionally, Ryan owns his own law firm in Lincoln.
House Corporation
The House Corporation is the legal owner of the Delt House. It is comprised of a variety of alumni who serve as the Board of Directors. The House Corporation coordinates move-in/move-out dates, small and large renovations, capital campaigns to raise funds for large renovations, and provides general maintenance of the facility.
Delta Tau Delta Central Office
The Central Office is the administrative arm of Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity. It is headquartered in Fishers, Indiana outside of Indianapolis. Its staff provides support through educational resources, programming, and dedicated chapter support coordinators assigned to the chapter to evaluate and guide chapters.
