International Fraternity Structure
Delta Tau Delta is an International Fraternity established in 1858. It is governed by an elected group of alumni called the Arch Chapter which is responsible for the strategic planning of the Fraternity. It is composed of a President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Director of Member Development, and five Division Presidents. The United States is divided into five geographic regions, called Divisions: North, South, East, Western Plains, and Western Pacific. Each Division has an elected alumni representative called the Division President who also serves on the Arch Chapter. Chapters located in each of those regions are a part of their respective Division.
There is a group of undergraduate members who are appointed by the President of the Fraternity to serve on the Undergraduate Council. This is a body that represents the undergraduate chapters and provides input on the Arch Chapter.
A support staff, headed by a C.E.O., administers the everyday operations and policies of the Fraternity. It is called the Central Office and it is located in Fishers, Indiana, a suburb of Indianapolis. It provides support to chapters, coordinates educational and leadership programming, and facilitates the discipline of chapters.
A biennial convention, called the Karnea, is held every even year typically in August. The Karnea serves as the legislative body of the Fraternity. It elects new Arch Chapter members, conducts legislation, and reviews the programming and operations of the Fraternity.
Beta Tau Chapter is within the Western Plains Division. The Western Plains is essentially all Delt Chapters between South Dakota from the North, to Texas to the South, from Colorado to the West, and Iowa and Missouri to the East.
